Saturday Nite Fun: Ancestor’s I’ve Met

It is August 20, 2009, a beautiful Saturday nite. I have finished my homework and decided to play over at Randy’s place, GeneaMusings. We are suppose to list the ancestors that we actually met. Here are the ones I was blessed to meet before they crossed the veil. Cannot wait to see them again one day.

Maternal Grandparents

James Bonnie Roaten (1914 Corinth,MS/1974 Mayflower, AR)
*He was a carpenter and could make furniture, just about anything. He built a house on Conway Lake in AR where he lived before he died.

Maternal Great Grandparents
Anna Priscilla Bumpass Roaten (1886-1974) Corinth, Alcorn, MS
Joe Lee Coleman (1901-1969) Corinth, Alcorn, MS
*Anna and Joe had a farm, had my first taste of a turnip there.
Aimee Mae Sulephen Coleman (1903-Unknown) Corinth, Alcorn, MS
*She had the longest pretty hair, but as she got older and was living in a nursing home, she had to cut it as it was too heavy and gave her headaches. Before that she had it always in braids.

Paternal Grandparents
Bilbo Roger Smith (1911-1996) Prentiss Co., MS
*One interesting thing about Papa, he was a truck driver and the date of his death, June 18 is the same date of his birth. He use to take us kids to get ice cream when he was in town.
Sarah Bonnie Murphy Smith (1915-2002) Prentiss Co., MS
*Greatest cook on this Earth. What I would give to have some of her homemade chicken and dumplings and chocolate pies.
